How to create the perfect logo for your SaaS

1 hour is all it takes

Ever heard of the saying "simple is best, but the best is not that simple"? Well, probably not, because it’s a saying of mine, lol. Anyway, you’re here to learn how to create a perfect yet simple logo for your SaaS, and I’m going to teach you the two steps I use in this article in 4 minutes. You ready?

Ok, first off, you need to understand that a logo is the first and last thing your SaaS needs. What I mean by this is you need to wrap the idea or concept of your SaaS in a nice pictorial form, which is a logo in this case, at the start of your SaaS production. You don’t have to spend too much time on this; I recommend a maximum of 1 hour working on it (by the way, you can spend as much time as you want thinking about it). And also, at the end of your SaaS production to refine it and make it simpler if possible.

For this article, I had ChatGPT generate 2 SaaS that are different in every respect, and I’m going to share with you my process of how I created the two logos you see below:

They are pretty cool, yes? Well, I got the idea for their design 2 minutes after ChatGPT generated the text and spent another 5+ minutes designing it in Canva. I know, right? I'm somewhat of a designer myself, lol... But this isn't about me being a good designer or not; it's about not wasting time on a logo instead of shipping. 1 hour max for a logo, nothing more…

How did I come up with the logos? Let's look at them one at a time.

BudgetBuddy :

Rule 1: Any good thing that comes to mind first

When I saw this, the first thing that came to my mind was a piggy bank. I don't know why, lol, it just kind of popped into my head. Maybe it's because of the word "budget" there? I don't know. Anyway, I thought a piggy bank with "Budget" written on it and "Buddy" below it would make a good logo, so I created this in Canva right away.

In case you are wondering how I got the pig, you can search for any elements you need by clicking on the elements button. I just searched for a piggy bank and scrolled until I saw a free one, lol.

I thought it was cool but changed the pig to another free one I saw that looked better. Then I added a color that I thought matched well at the time. I didn't put too much thought into it since it’s a random logo anyway.

VibeBoard :

Rule 2: Plain text just works sometimes.

For this one, nothing particularly good came to mind for the next 30 minutes, lol, just random stuff. As a rule of thumb, if I don't have a good idea after 30 minutes, I just write the text in black and white and stare at it until I see what to do. I use Poppins for logo texts all the time; it's like a bad habit, lol. How long do you stare before something comes to you? Trust me, it comes to you faster than you think.

I added spider sense stuff to make it look like this.

Then I changed the color to orange because it's not a real SaaS anyway, so any color will do. It took me less than 30 seconds to make a few changes and come up with this.

It's simple and ready to use, all in less than 1 hour. Honestly, in my opinion, you don’t need to spend money on an overpriced graphic designer to get a simple logo you need to ship with.

Nice, right? Logos are just that easy. Honestly, if you have a SaaS and you’re reading this or you will be building one in the future, logos are pretty easy. That’s why I’m showing you how to get it done for free. But if you’re too busy to do it yourself, you can reach out to me for help.
